Basketball teams host key conference games Wednesday night

The basketball teams will be back at Titan Field House Wednesday night for important conference games.

It will also be Titan Pride Night with prize drawings throughout both games, free food from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of the gymnasium as well as free EFSC T-shirts.

The women's basketball team will take the court first as the Titans will host St. Petersburg in a matchup of 1-1 teams in the Suncoast Conference.

The Titans come into the contest 16-4 overall and are coming off a big win against Hillsborough Community College behind sophomore Mariah Batz's career high 29-point effort. St. Petersburg is coming off a nine-point loss to Florida Southwestern last Saturday and is 12-10 overall.

Ieva Spigule is leading Region 8 in 3-point field goal percentage, hitting 49.4 percent of her 3-pointers while teammate Alexandrine Obouh Fegue is second in Region 8 in rebounds per game, averaging 10.3.

Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. and admission is free.

After the women's game, the No. 7-ranked men's basketball team will take the court in a battle for first place in the Mid-Florida Conference. The Titans come into the contest 20-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference. They will look to even things with the College of Central Florida who took the first game, 101-91 and are a perfect 4-0 in conference games.

The Titans are coming off a big win over Santa Fe last Saturday, led by sophomore guard Michael Nuga who finished with 20 points. Teammate Eli Abaev is second in Region 8 in rebounding, averaging 9.6 rebounds per game.
