Men's basketball team picks up 20th win, defeats Santa Fe

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team showcased its depth in a 93-71 victory over Santa Fe Saturday afternoon at Titan Field House.

It is the earliest that a Titans team has reached 20 wins under Jeremy Shulman as Saturday's win put them at 20-2 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-Florida Conference.

And it was a team effort as nine different players scored in the first half as the Titans jumped out to a 43-30 lead on Santa Fe who fell to 14-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Michael Nuga scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as the Titans traded shots with Santa Fe for much of the second half, extending it from 15 to 20 late in the contest.

Ruot Monyyong got his first start for the Titans and finished with 13 points while teammates Ahmed Ali and Silas Adheke also finished with 13.

Freshman Jalen Warren also got his first start and had nine points.

"It was one thing we talked about after our last win is using our depth more. We have great players, let's get them all going," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said. "We are going to enjoy tonight, every win in this league is hard to come by so we will enjoy this one and get back to work tomorrow."

The win sets up a rematch with the College of Central Florida on Wednesday night at Titan Field House. Central Florida is 4-0 in the conference and won the first meeting 101-91.

Wednesday night will be Titan Pride Night at Titan Field House with free food from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and then the women's basketball team plays at 5:30. The men will take the court at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will be aired live on WEFS-TV and online at efsctitans.com/webcast.
