Men's basketball team holds off Snow College

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team needed a spark against Snow College in the final game of the Jim Grimes Classic at Titan Field House.

Freshman Nathanael Jack checked into the game with the Titans down nine and scored the next eight points to close the gap and Jalen Warren's runner with 10 minutes remaining gave the Titans a lead at 48-46. Another Jack 3-pointer with seven minutes left gave the Titans a 57-49 lead.

Snow College's Jake Walker answered late in the contest with two 3-pointers of his own and with the Titans up 69-66 with 4.2 seconds left, Walker took aim at tying the game. The 3-point shot was off target but a foul was called sending him to the line.

Walker hit the first free throw, but missed the second and after a timeout a lane violation was called to keep the Titans lead at two.

In the end, the Titans held on for the 69-67 win to improve to 10-1 on the season and have won nine in a row.

Jack scored a career-high 22 points in the win, all in the second half. Ahmed Ali finished with 19 points, 13 coming in the first half.

Snow College will play Palm Beach State at 7 p.m. Monday at Eastern Florida State College while the Titans will be back at Titan Field House Wednesday against ASA Miami. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
