Six men's basketball players named to all-conference teams

For the second straight season Kareem Brewton was named to the first team all-Southern Conference team.

The sophomore guard was one of three Titans to make the first team as Ahmed Ali and Joan Duran were also named to the first team.

Austin Awad was named to the second team for the second time while Shaq Carter and Eli Abaev were also named to the second team.

Brewton finished the regular season averaging 20.9 points per game which is second in Region 8 along with 5.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 29 games.

Ali averaged 15.9 points per game and has hit 93 3-pointers, with a 45 percent 3-point shooting percentage. The freshman from Toronto is averaging five assists per game for the Titans.

Duran averaged 9.9 points per game but 11.9 against conference teams this season. The sophomore had big games down the stretch when the Titans needed him most, scoring 26 and 27 points in big wins against Indian River State College.

Awad played in 24 games and averaged 10.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Carter started all 30 games for the Titans this season as a freshman, averaging 9.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Abaev also played in all 30 games this season as a freshman, averaging 5.2 points and a team-leading 7.2 rebounds per game but against conference teams he averaged 6.2 points and 9.5 rebounds.

"So pumped for our guys!!! To be recognized as All-Conference for their outstanding play this year is a great honor for these six," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said. "The three sophomores, Kareem, Joan, and Austin were rewarded for their great play, but it also shows how bright the future of our program is with three freshmen getting honored!"

The Titans, who are 26-4 and up to No. 11 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, will travel to Ocala to play in the Region 8 Men's Basketball Championship tournament March 9-11 in Ocala.
