Titan men's basketball team picks up 20th win of season Saturday

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team picked up win No. 20 on the season Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't easy.

Broward College cut the lead to two points with six minutes remaining but Ahmed Ali and Austin Awad hit big 3-pointers to make sure the Titans picked up that 20th win, 91-75 at Titan Field House.

"Those two players are just unbelievable players and we are lucky they are on our team," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said. "They made some huge plays on the offensive end and the team made some big stops. We really dialed in and just locked them up from then on, really proud of the guys."

Kareem Brewton continued to lead the way, scoring a team-high 22 points for the Titans. The sophomore from Claxton, Ga. has scored at least 11 points in every game this season and is averaging 21 points per game, second best in Region 8.

Ali and Shaq Carter each finished with 13 points and Awad had 12. Kaleel Solomon finished with 12 points as well in the win.

Eastern Florida State College is now 20-3 overall and 6-2 in the Southern Conference. The Titans will host Indian River State College in a battle for first place at 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

"Every team in our conference is fantastic, every time I look at the schedule and think I just got done with a big game, there is another one coming," Shulman said. "It is tough game after tough game, we just have to keep getting better every day in practice to prepare us for these games."

Wednesday night's game will be televised on WEFS-TV and online at efsctitans.com/webcast
