Men's basketball team set for showdown with Broward
The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team knows all too well how good Broward College is as they prepare to host the Seahawks on Saturday afternoon.
In the first meeting, Kareem Brewton scored seven points in the final 30 seconds to defeat Broward College 91-90. The two teams meet again at 2 p.m., this time at Titan Field House.
Broward College enters the matchup with a three-game win streak, making them 4-3 in the Southern Conference. On Tuesday night the Seahawks defeated first-place Indian River State College by 19 points.
Eastern Florida State College is No. 15 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll and also comes into the matchup on a winning streak, winning the past two games at home and have scored over 100 points in each of those wins.
Overall, the Titans are 9-0 at home this season, defeating opponents by an average 28 points and have won 18 straight games at Titan Field House.
Broward is led by a trio of players who are all averaging at least 16 points per game led by Jaron Cornish's 19.4 points per game.
Brewton is second in Region 8 in scoring, averaging 21.2 points per game this season and has scored at least 11 points in every game this season. Teammates Ahmed Ali is averaging 17 points per game in the last seven games while Joan Duran is averaging 12 points per game in the past four games.
