Titan men's basketball team defeats Red Devils Academy

The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team cracked the century mark for the second straight game, defeating Red Devils Academy 104-53 at Titan Field House Saturday afternoon.

The Titans, who are now 5-0 and No. 4 in the latest NJCAA rankings, scored 52 points in each half led by sophomore Austin Awad's 15 points.

"I thought he was the catalyst for us being able to jump out. He is playing with so much confidence right now," Eastern Florida State College men's basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said.

Kellen Rogers and Eli Abaev each finished with 13 points while Shaq Seville finished with 10 points in the contest.

"Kellen, Josh (Korthuis) and Shaq (Seville) are all very talented players and will be able to play at the NCAA level when they are done here but because of our depth they don't always get the minutes, so to see them come in and really perform and play well was very pleasing," Shulman said.

The Titans will hit the road for a pair of games next week, traveling to St. Petersburg College Tuesday night and then at Polk State at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

"We play one of the nation's toughest schedules so to be able to play some of the other guys today was great. This week coming up is a big week for us, on the road for two tough games – St. Petersburg and Polk State. We have seen them before and we know they will make adjustments so we will have to be ready. This will give us another gauge of where we are as a team," Shulman said.
