Eli Abaev to Join Titans
Eastern Florida's men's basketball team has signed Eli Abaev, a 6-foot, 7-inch, 200-pound forward from Zion Lutheran High in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
Abaev averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game, shooting 56 percent from the floor.
"Eli is an exciting, young player who has enormous upside," said Eastern Florida head coach Jeremy Shulman. "Eli is very young, he just turned 17, and is already very skilled and versatile with a great 6'7 frame.
"He can score inside and outside, and guard multiple positions. Eli has all of the potential to become an outstanding Division I prospect."
Abaev joins Kaleel Solomon, a 6-foot, 165-pound guard from Sunland Baptist in Freeport, Bahamas; Noah Horchler, a 6-foot, 8-inch 200-pound forward from Melbourne, Florida and Melbourne High; Logan Folsom, a 5-foot, 9-inch, 170-pound point guard, also from Melbourne and Melbourne High; Ahmed Ali, a 5-foot, 11-inch, 165-pound point guard from BTB Prep in Toronto, Canada, and Shaq Carter, a 6-foot, 9-inch 240-pounder from Zion Lutheran High in Deerfield Beach, Florida as signees.
The Titans won their fourth consecutive FCSAA Southern Conference championship last season, becoming the first team to post a 15-0 record.
Shulman was named conference coach of the year for the fourth straight time.
The Titans qualified for the NJCAA Division I men's national tournament for the second straight time. They finished the season 27-5.
