Titan Men Announce Shaq Carter as First 2016-2017 Signee
Eastern Florida men's basketball head coach Jeremy Shulman announced the first of his 2016-2017 recruits on Thursday.
Shulman secured the signature of Shaq Carter, a 6-foot, 9-inch 240-pounder from Zion Lutheran High in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Carter averaged 15 points and six rebounds per game, shooting 61 percent from the floor.
He will be a freshman.
"Shaq is a big time signee, who chose Eastern Florida over offers from top JUCOs all across the state and country," Shulman said.
"I am beyond excited about having Shaq as a part of the Eastern Florida family. Shaq is an outstanding person, and a big time basketball player. He is long, athletic, and versatile, and has a great skill set. Shaq has the potential to be one of the best post players in the nation during his time here at Eastern Florida."
The Titans won their fourth consecutive FCSAA Southern Conference championship last season, becoming the first team to post a 15-0 record.
Shulman was named conference coach of the year for the fourth straight time.
The Titans qualified for the NJCAA Division I men's national tournament for the second straight time. They finished the season 27-5.
