Titan Men Earn No. 4 National Ranking

Titan Men Earn No. 4 National Ranking

In what is believed to be a first in the history of Titan men's basketball, Eastern Florida is ranked fourth in in the NJCAA Division I national poll.

The poll was released on Wednesday. The only other Florida team in the top 25 is defending national champion Northwest Florida at 16th.

In two other milestones, the Titans achieved and retain the No. 1 ranking in Florida in the NJCAA Region 8 poll and are the champions of the FCSAA Southern Conference for an unprecedented fourth straight time.

Eastern Florida, 14-0 in the conference for the first time and 26-3 overall, completes its regular season at 7 p.m. Thursday at conference foe Miami Dade College (6-8, 16-13) in Kendall.

The Titans then will gear up for their fourth straight appearance in the Region 8/FCSAA Tournament where they finished as runner-up in 2013 and 2015.

The tournament is March 2-5 at the College of Central Florida in Ocala.

The Titans also are seeking their second straight NJCAA national tournament berth, which they can earn by winning the Region 8/FCSAA Tournament or securing one of four national at-large bids.

And, the Titans again have the opportunity to set a program record for victories in a season. They tied it last season, finishing 29-5.

"What an honor to be ranked fourth in the entire country," said Titans head coach Jeremy Shulman. "It's a testament to this amazing group of guys that we have. It's a special team.

"But as a reminder guys, we can't focus on the ranking, but rather getting prepared for an outstanding Miami Dade team tomorrow, and then a deep and talented State Tournament in March."
