Baseball team opens conference series with Polk State on Thursday

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will open a key Citrus Conference series against Polk State College on Thursday.

The Titans, who are 10-11 and is tied for sixth in the conference, will travel to Polk State College for a Game 1 at 5 p.m. On Saturday the teams will play a doubleheader at Bruce Bochy Field.

Polk State College comes into the series 12-9 and is in fourth place in the conference standings. The team is hitting .280 as a team led by Damion Kenealy who is hitting .342 this season with 11 doubles, two triples and two home runs. Aiden Butler is among the top five in Region 8 in ERA with a 3.02 and strikeouts with 67.

Eastern Florida State College is eighth in Region 8 in team batting average, hitting .303 this season and is fifth in team ERA with a 5.10 ERA. Region 8 Pitcher of the Week Kenneth Robinson has a 2.06 ERA this season and is 6-2 on the season.

Sophomore Hector Mangual is hitting .371 this season while teammate Laheim Bell is hitting .341 this season for the Titans.
