Baseball team falls short on the road

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team fell short against Indian River State College Tuesday in a non-conference game on the road.

The Titans rallied back from an early deficit to tie the game, but Indian River State College would score a run to pick up the 8-7 win.

Down 6-0 after three innings, the Titans struck back for two runs in the fourth inning as Carlos Cordero scored and then Laheim Bell singled, scoring Ryan Cerrone.

In the fifth inning, Cerrone came up with two on and hit a double, scoring Bryce Pax and Cordero and make it 6-4. Hector Mangual singled, scoring Cerrone and then Adrian Dominguez doubled to score Cerrone and tie the game 6-6.

The Titans took the lead in the sixth inning as Jake Cooper scored on a passed ball.

But the Pioneers would strike for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead.

Cerrone had two hits and two RBI while teammate Mangual also had two hits in the game.

Eastern Florida State College is now 15-15-1 and will begin a three-game conference series against Florida Southwestern State College on Thursday. The Titans will travel to FSW on Thursday and then will host the Bucs Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field.
