Baseball team splits doubleheader at Santa Fe

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team split a doubleheader with Santa Fe College on Saturday.

The Titans, who are now 6-9 in the Citrus Conference, won the first game 1-0 before dropping the second game 16-6.

In Game 1, Kenneth Robinson had one of his best starts of the season, shutting out the Saints over six innings, allowing three hits and struck out seven.

The Titans would get in the board in the second inning when Luke Lambert hit a sacrifice fly to score the only run of the game.

Robinson got out of a jam with two strikeouts in the sixth inning. Anthony Cordero pitched the seventh inning to pick up the save.

Adrian Dominguez had two hits and scored the lone run for the Titans.

In Game 2, the Titans found themselves down 6-0 in the first inning but battled back with four runs in the third inning to cut the lead to 6-5.

But a couple of home runs in the fourth inning put Santa Fe in position to earn the split.

Lambert had three hits in the game while Hector Mangual went 2-for-2 and had a couple of walks. Kevin Smith drove in two runs for the Titans.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Indian River State College for a non-conference game at 5 p.m. before a conference series with Florida Southwestern.
