Baseball team loses to Indian River State College on the road

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team could not rally Thursday evening, falling to Indian River State College on the road.

The Titans, who are now 5-5 in the Citrus Conference, lost 4-1 to the Pioneers at Indian River State College in the first of a three-game series this weekend.

A couple of errors led to three runs in the second inning for the Pioneers. Indian River State College would add a run in the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead.

The Titans had some chances to cut into the lead but could not get the big hit. Eastern Florida State College would score in the eighth inning as Hector Mangual hit an RBI single, scoring Adrian Dominguez.

Eastern Florida State College starting pitcher Zaylen Perry struck out eight over seven innings, allowing four hits and one earned run.

Carlos Cordero, Ryan Cerrone, Mangual and Jake Cooper each had two hits in the game.

The Titans will host Indian River State College in a conference doubleheader Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field. The first game will begin at noon and admission is free.
