Baseball team cruises to home win Tuesday

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team scored a season-high 17 runs Tuesday afternoon at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans had 19 hits in a 17-3 victory over Webber International JV. The win was the seventh of the season for the Titans.

They would get thing going quickly, scoring seven times in the bottom of the first inning and five more in the fourth inning.

Kevin Smith went 4-for-5 with a double, driving in four runs and also scored a run and also pitched a scoreless inning. Teammate Carlos Cordero had three hits, scoring twice and drove in two runs and Ryan Cerrone and Luke Lambert each scored three times in the win.

Nathan Hooks got the start for the Titans and went three innings, allowing one unearned run and struck out three. Hooks picked up the win.

Eastern Florida State College will open the Citrus Conference season Thursday afternoon against Hillsborough Community College. The conference opener will be at 2 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field and admission is free. You can also watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
