Baseball team falls short on the road

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team fell short against Polk State College on the road Thursday evening.

The Titans, who are now 4-4-1 on the season, lost 5-3 to the Eagles who are now 7-5.

Eastern Florida State College scored two runs in the second inning as Luke Lambert had an RBI single and then Wayne Wilkerson laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Jake Cooper.

Polk State struck for four runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Lambert pulled the Titans closer with an RBI single in the fourth inning as Kevin Smith scored. Polk State College would add a run in the ninth inning.

Lambert went 2-for-4 with the two RBI and Cooper also had two hits.

Evimael Quiles took the loss, allowing four runs over three innings. Zaylen Perry went three strong innings with four strikeouts and then Nick Anello allowed one unearned run over two innings.

Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Field House on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader against Sunshine Elite Academy. First pitch is 1 p.m. and admission is free.
