Baseball team rallies past Florida Southwestern

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team rallied late in the game to defeat Florida Southwestern in a Southern Conference game on Friday night.

The Titans scored five runs in the eighth inning to pick up the 8-5 win at Bruce Bochy Field.

Eastern Florida State College found themselves down 5-3 after Albert Serrano's three-run home run in the sixth inning but the Titans would bat around in the eighth inning as the Titans would scored five times in the inning.

Jacob Vermeire made it 5-4 with an RBI single that scored Wilfredo Maldanado. Then Carlos Cordero tied the game with a hit up the middle. With two outs, the Bucs walked the bases loaded for Eddiel Tolentino. The catcher hit a full count pitch just out of the reach of the second baseman, scoring two runs. Adrian Dominguez would make it 8-5 with an RBI single.

Will Smith picked up the win with a clean eighth inning and Anthony Cordero got the save.

Dalton Robinson hit a long home run in the fourth inning to make it 3-0 before Florida Southwestern came back.

Dominguez went 3-for-4 with two RBI, two stolen bases and a run scored in the win.

The series with Florida Southwestern is now tied 2-2 as the two teams will meet Saturday at 2 p.m.
