Baseball team picks up 20th win of the season

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team tossed a shutout Tuesday afternoon at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans defeated Rollins College JV 12-0 to pick up their 20th win of the season.

Zach Taylor got things started in the bottom of the first inning with his fourth home run of the season. Wilfredo Maldanado singled and would score on a passed ball to make it 2-0.

Starting pitcher Jacob Hardy struck out two batters in the second inning and had four in three innings of work.

The Titans opened the game up with six runs in the second inning as Keybar Lopez, Jacob Vermeire and Dalton Robinson each had RBI singles. Matt Merk hit a single that scored two runs.

Maldanado had a two-run triple to make it 11-0.

Eastern Florida State College will begin a three-game series against Florida Southwestern Wednesday at noon in Fort Myers. The series will come to Bruce Bochy Field on Friday for a 6 p.m. start and then Saturday the teams will meet at 2 p.m.
