Baseball team to host Indian River State College Friday on WEFS-TV

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will host Indian River State College on a special night Friday at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans, who are now 19-21 overall and 3-10 in the Southern Conference, will host Game 2 of the weekend series with the Pioneers.

Before Friday night's game, Eastern Florida State College's baseball program will recognize the women's basketball team who won the FCSAA Region VIII title for the first time in program history and advanced to the semifinals of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. The team will take the field at 5:45 p.m. and head coach MJ Baker will throw out the first pitch.

The baseball program will also welcome little league teams from West Melbourne and Viera with a meet and greet with the players before the game and the players will stay and root on the Titans.

Eastern Florida State College lost the first game of the series with the Pioneers in the bottom of the ninth inning and the season series is now tied 2-2.

The Titans will send sophomore KC Swords to the mound who will be making his 11th start of the season. He is 2-4 with a 5.46 ERA this season for the Titans.

Eastern Florida State College is the top team in Region VIII in stolen bases this season with 109. Carlos Cordero leads the team with 24 stolen bases and is hitting .382 this season.

Indian River State College comes into the game 21-14 overall and 6-7 in the conference.

Friday's game will be shown live on WEFS-TV which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse. The game will also be shown live online at EFSC Titans YouTube page. Admission to Friday's game is free.
