Baseball team rallies late but falls to Miami Dade

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team rallied back to tie the game but Miami Dade College would pull out the win in the ninth inning Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans lost the Southern Conference game 10-8 and are now 3-9 in the conference.

Dalton Robinson got the Titans on the board in the first inning with a two-run home run. The shot was his second home run of the season and started his big day at the plate.

Up 2-0, Miami Dade scored four times in the third inning as starter Brady Guthrie lasted just two-plus innings. The Sharks would take advantage of a walk and three hit batters to bat around in the third inning.

Down 4-2, Robinson would lead off the bottom of the third with a single, steal second and score on a wild pitch to make it 4-3.

The Sharks would add a run in the fifth inning and lead 5-3. Wooyeol Shin would hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning Up 7-3 Max Galvin would hit a solo shot in the seventh inning for an 8-3 lead.

The Titans would score three times in the eighth inning as Robinson doubled, Zach Taylor walked to put runners on first and second. Eddiel Tolentino would hit an RBI single, scoring Robinson and then Adrian Dominguez would single to load the bases.

Ryne Wallace would hammer a pitch for a two-run double to cut the lead to 8-6.

After reliever Grayson Adams got out of a jam in the top of the eighth inning, the Titans would go back to work as Don McKnight would walk and steal second. He would score on Robinson's single. Robinson would advance to second on a passed ball, steal third and eventually score the tying run on a Dominguez RBI single.

Tied 8-8 in the ninth inning, Miami Dade College would score twice as Shin led off with a double. Anthony Cordero would get the next two out but Matthew Mateo would hit a pinch hit single to give the Sharks a lead again. Mateo would then score on Alex Ulloa's RBI double.

The Titans could not rally back again, falling 10-8.

Robinson would finish with four hits and was a triple shy of the cycle for the Titans.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Warner University JV Monday at 4 p.m. before starting a Southern Conference series with Indian River State College on the road Wednesday.
