Baseball team loses first game of series vs Miami Dade

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost to Miami Dade College on the road Wednesday.

The Titans lost the Southern Conference game 8-6 and are now 18-18 overall and 3-7 in the conference.

Eastern Florida State College would take the lead with four runs in the third inning as Dalton Robinson, Zach Taylor and Laheim Bell all reached base. With the bases loaded, Adrian Dominguez walked and then Brady Streilitz ripped a double that scored two more runs. Streilitz would score the fourth run of the inning.

Miami Dade would come back and score four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-4 lead. The Sharks would add to the lead in the fifth inning and score two more times in the sixth.

Catcher Gino Torrente would cut into the Sharks lead in the eighth inning as Torrente hit a two-run home run to cut the lead to 8-6. It is Torrente's first home run of the season.

Torrente finished with two hits and three RBI while Streilitz also had two hits and drove in two runs.

Eastern Florida State College will host Miami Dade in Game 2 of the series Friday at 6 p.m. The game at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne campus will be free to attend and will be shown on the EFSC Titans Sports YouTube page.
