Baseball team hosts Florida Southwestern Wednesday in first game of series

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will host Florida Southwestern State College Wednesday evening in the first game of a three-game series.

The Titans, who are 2-4 in the Southern Conference, have won three straight heading into the series with the Bucs. Game 1 will be at Bruce Bochy Field at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Eastern Florida State College is led offensively by Gabriel Cruz who is hitting .391 while teammate's Carlos Cordero is hitting .356 and Eddiel Tolentino has been red hot of late and is hitting .355. Cordero also leads the team with 17 stolen bases.

Florida Southwestern is tied for first in the conference with a 4-2 record and is 21-11 overall. AJ Shaver and Anthony Westbrook lead the team offensively, hitting .356 and .355 respectively. Teammate Sergio Rivera leads the team with 19 stolen bases.

The series will feature the top two teams in Region VIII in stolen bases as the Titans are No. 1 in the state with 81 stolen bases and Florida Southwestern is No. 2 with 71.
