Baseball team defeats Indian River on the road

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team picked up a Southern Conference win on the road Friday, defeating Indian River State College 6-4.

The Titans evened the series 1-1 with the teams scheduled to play Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field at 1 p.m.

On Friday, the Titans scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to break the 4-4 tie.

Wilfredo Maldanado singled and scored on Adrian Dominguez double to open the scoring in the second inning. Dominguez would homer in the eighth inning to tie the game 4-4.

Carlos Cordero had three hits and a big sacrifice bunt that moved runners to second and third in the ninth inning. Both would score on Eddiel Tolentino's groundball that got past the shortstop.

Anthony Cordero picked up the win in relief, tossing three innings as the Titans improved to 1-4 in the conference and 14-15 overall.

Saturday's game will begin at 1 p.m. and admission is free to games at Bruce Bochy Field.
