Baseball team opens conference series with Indian River Wednesday

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will open a three-game Southern Conference series with Indian River State College beginning Wednesday.

The Titans come into the contest 0-3 in the conference and 12-15 overall and will host Indian River on Wednesday and Saturday with Friday's game at Indian River State College.

The Pioneers come into the series 1-2 in the conference and 15-9 overall after losing the opening-weekend series to Florida Southwestern.

Eastern Florida State College's Gabriel Cruz is hitting .428 in 54 at-bats this season while Eddiel Tolentino is hitting .339 and Carlos Cordero is batting .337 this season and has 15 stolen bases which is fourth in the state.

Dalton Robinson, who will get the start Wednesday, allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings in the conference opener last week, while KC Swords is 12th in the state in ERA with a 3.56 ERA in seven starts.

Indian River State College's Raul Feliz is hitting .427 in 22 games this season with four home runs and 26 RBI.

The first game of the series will be at 6 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field. Admission is free and the game will be shown live online at the EFSC Titans Sports YouTube page.
