Baseball team rolls past Florida Palms University

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team cruised to a victory over Florida Palms University Wednesday night at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans, who improved to 9-9 on the season, hit three home runs on their way to a 14-0 victory.

While the offense was clicking, Dalton Robinson made his second start against Florida Palms University and tossed six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and struck out five in the victory. Erik Tovar pitched a scoreless seventh inning to wrap up the win.

Up 1-0 in the fifth inning, the Titans would bat around in the inning and score eight times. Eddiel Tolentino got things started with an RBI triple, he would score on a Brady Strelitz single. A couple of walks loaded the bases and then Gavin Zieglar was hit by a pitch to make it 4-0. Gino Torrente laced a 1-2 pitch into the gap, scoring three runners as he stood at second base with a double.

That brought up Wilfredo Maldanado who crushed a two-run home run to make it 9-0. It was Maldanado's second home run of the season.

Gavin Zieglar hit his first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth inning. Laheim Bell hit a long home run three batters later to make it 14-0.

Eastern Florida State College will host East Georgia State College for a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field. Admission is free.
