Baseball team picks up win against Florida Palms University

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team picked up a big win Friday night at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans picked up their fifth win of the season, defeating Florida Palms University 10-3.

Dalton Robinson got the start and was sharp, tossing six strong innings for the victory.

Robinson threw nine pitches in the first inning, all strikes as he struck out the side. He struck out the first four hitters he faced and finished with eight strikeouts in the game. Robinson did not allow a hit until the sixth inning when Asnaldo Caicedo hit an RBI double. That would be the only run he would allow.

Meanwhile Laheim Bell had a big night at the plate. Bell ripped an 0-1 pitch for a triple in the second and scored the first run of the game on Keybar Lopez single.

In the third inning the Titans scored three times as Zach Taylor walked and scored, Robinson singled and scored and then Ryne Wallace singled and scored the third run of the inning.

Up 4-1 in the sixth inning, Bell stepped to the plate with one out and two runners on. He crushed the 3-2 pitch to centerfield, hitting the top of the Batter's Eye for a home run. It was Bell's second home run of the season.

The Titans would roll from there and take a 10-1 lead.

Florida Palms University would score twice in the eighth inning to make it 10-3.

Bell and Lopez each had four hits in the game while Carlos Cordero finished with three hits.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Polk State College Saturday at 1 p.m. The Eagles won the first meeting, 10-6.
