Baseball team rallies past Florida State College at Jacksonville

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team rallied in the ninth inning to pick up their second win of the season on Thursday.

The Titans were down 7-5 heading to the ninth inning. The Florida State College at Jacksonville put Tristin Bohler into the game and he got the first out of the inning, but Don McKnight doubled to left field. That brought up Zach Taylor who worked the count full. Taylor turned on a fastball and blasted a home run over the left field wall. Taylor's first home run of the season tied the game 7-7.

Bohler would get Dalton Robinson to fly out for the second out.

That brought up Wilfredo Maldanado who hit the first pitch over the left field wall to give the Titans an 8-7 lead.

Anthony Cordero finished the game striking out two of the three hitters he faced in the ninth. Cordero pitched two shutout innings for the Titans for the win, not allowing a baserunner.

Eastern Florida State College's Gino Torrente, Taylor and McKnight each drove in two runs, Gavin Zieglar and Maldanado each had two hits in the game. The home runs were the first two of the season for the Titans.

The Titans, who are 2-3 on the season, will travel to the College of Central Florida on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game. Eastern Florida State College will host the College of Central Florida Monday for the home opener at 4 p.m.
