Baseball team shuts out Gulf Coast State

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team shut out Gulf Coast State College Saturday at the State College of Florida-Manatee.

The Titans picked up their first win of the season with the 6-0 victory.

Starting pitcher Trey Jackson allowed one hit and struck out six in 4 2/3 innings of shutout baseball and the Titans struck for three runs in the fifth inning and then scored three more in the eighth for the win.

Gulf Coast State College was threatening in the ninth inning, but Zach Taylor threw out a runner at home plate for the final out of the game, preserving the shutout.

 Grayson Adams came in for Jackson in the fifth inning and struck out three in 3 1/3 innings of relief.

Adrian Dominguez and Dalton Robinson each had clutch RBI singles with two outs to keep innings alive. Taylor also had an RBI single in the win.

Eastern Florida State College will wrap up the opening weekend with a game against the host State College of Florida-Manatee at 2 p.m. Sunday.
