Catcher Drew Cavanaugh named ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove recipient

Eastern Florida State College's Drew Cavanaugh was named to the NJCAA Division I Baseball ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove award winner.

The catcher from Rochester Hills, Michigan native caught 37 games for the Titans this season with 257 putouts and no errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage. The sophomore also threw out 22 runners stealing on him which is first in the state and fifth in the nation. Cavanaugh finished the season throwing out 66 percent of those runners which is the best among starting catchers in both the state and nation.

He was also named to the second team All-State team and was the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Cavanaugh is one of two players to be awarded a gold glove from the state of Florida as Polk State's Dakota Harris won a Gold Glove at shortstop.

He is the second Eastern Florida State College player to win a NJCAA ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove award in the past 10 seasons. Outfielder Sammy Duran was awarded a Gold Glove in 2016.
