Five baseball players named to all-Southern Conference teams
Five members of the Eastern Florida State College baseball team were named to the All-Southern Conference teams on Monday.
Eastern Florida State College's Drew Cavanaugh was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Southern Conference.
Cavanaugh had 257 putouts this season without making an error and had 21 assists. The sophomore from Rochester Hills, Michigan made the all-conference first team, hitting .314 this season with eight home runs and drove in 32 runs and stole 10 bases for the Titans.
Joining Cavanaugh on the first team were shortstop Jason Blackstone, outfielder Dalton Robinson and pitcher Trey Jackson.
Blackstone hit .326 this season with four home runs and drove in 29 runs as the starting shortstop for the Titans. The Melbourne native scored 41 times and also had 15 stolen bases this season.
Robinson hit .305 in 45 games with the Titans, starting 42 of them with a team-best 13 doubles to go with five home runs and 26 RBI. The Casselberry native finished with 28 stolen bases which led the state and is tied for 30th in the nation.
Jackson became a starter for the Titans during the stretch run and went 2-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 20 appearances. The Melbourne native struck out 49 and walked 11 over 53.2 innings.
Pitcher Dylan Dieguez was named to the all-Southern Conference second team after starting eight games for the Titans and posting a 2.95 ERA. The Satellite Beach native struck out 53 hitters while walking just 11 in 61 innings.
