Former Titan Vinny Capra called up to Toronto Blue Jays

Former Eastern Florida State College baseball player Vinny Capra has been called up by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Capra played for the Titans in 2015 and 2016, hitting over .300 both seasons and was a Southern Conference First Team All-Conference shortstop in his sophomore season. In that season he hit .377 with 11 doubles and four triples, scoring 32 runs and drove in 28.

The Melbourne native went on to the University of Richmond where he was the everyday shortstop and led the team in hits (66), average (.327), runs (40), home runs (5), and RBI (41) as a senior.

He was drafted in the 20th round by the Toronto Blue Jays. He was hitting .304 in 69 at-bats this season at Triple A with three home runs and 10 RBI.

He becomes the second former Titan to make their Major League Baseball debut this season. Tommy Romero made his debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in April.
