Baseball team cruises past Indian River State in conference battle

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team came out fast against Indian River State College, picking up a big Southern Conference win Wednesday at Lawnwood Sorts Complex in Fort Pierce.

The Titans sent 12 batters to the plate, scoring eight times in the first inning to roll past the Pioneers 15-4 in seven innings. The win put them within one game of second place and now holds the tiebreaker with Indian River State College.

Eastern Florida State College's Gino Torrente hit his second home run in the first inning as eight of the nine starters scored in that first inning.

Dalton Robinson hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to give the Titans 15 runs which is the ninth time the Titans have scored 10-plus runs in a game this season.

Trey Jackson picked up the win, allowing three runs over six innings with five strikeouts. 

Eastern Florida State College will host South Florida State College in a Southern Conference matchup Friday at 5 p.m. It will be Little League Night at Bruce Bochy Field with the team meeting the team before the game and will have the opportunity to run the bases after the game. Admission to games at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne campus.
