Baseball team hits walk-off in 11th inning against Miami Dade

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team picked up a big conference win against No. 15 Miami Dade College Wednesday at Bruce Bochy Field.

Zach Taylor hit a single to right field with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th inning to pick up the 3-2 victory over the first-place Sharks. The loss was just the second time Miami Dade has lost a conference game this season.

Starting pitcher Trey Jackson pitched nine strong innings for the Titans, allowing just a two-run home run in the first inning.

Down 2-0 with two out in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Titans tied the game as Ryne Wallace hit a triple to left-center field that scored both Drew Cavanaugh and Taylor.

The game would remain tied 2-2 as Jackson kept putting up zeroes. As the game headed to the 10th inning, Jackson Woodward came in and threw two shutout innings for the win.

The Titans improved to 6-10 in the Southern Conference and 22-23-1 overall. They will continue to battle for a spot in the postseason as they travel to Miami for games on Friday and Saturday afternoon. Friday's game will begin at 3 p.m. in Miami with the final game set for noon on Saturday.

Eastern Florida State College will be back at Bruce Bochy Field Friday for a 5 p.m. game against South Florida State College.
