Baseball team hosts Miami Dade Wednesday

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will open a key three-game series with first-place Miami Dade College Wednesday afternoon at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans are in the race for a postseason berth as three teams are fighting for one spot with two weeks left in the regular season. The Titans come into the series with Miami Dade one game out of second place.

Miami Dade has already locked up the Southern Conference regular season title and a spot in the state tournament. The Sharks are ranked 18th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll and come into the series 14-1 in the conference and 32-13-1 overall.

The Titans come into the series second in Region 8 in stolen bases with 126 led by Dalton Robinson who has a state-best 27 this season. Teammate Gabriel Cruz has stolen 21 bases for the Titans.

Freshman Trey Jackson will get his second straight start and third of the season on Wednesday. In his last start, Jackson picked up the win with six solid innings of work, striking out seven. As a team the Titans are second in team ERA in the state with a 3.53 ERA and will look to hold down a Miami Dade offense that is hitting .284 this season.

Game 1 will begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday on the Melbourne campus with the final two games at Miami Dade on Friday and Saturday afternoon. You can watch Wednesday's game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
