Baseball team earns first win, beats College of Central Florida

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team picked up its first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon, defeating College of Central Florida 6-1 at Bruce Bochy Field.

After a 1-2-3 top of the first inning by starting pitcher Nick Feretic, the Titans got things going in a hurry scoring four times, highlighted by a three-run home run by Drew Stubbs. It was Stubbs' second home run of the season.

Ivan Zambrano would hit his first home run of the season, a solo home run as the Titans took a commanding lead.

Feretic went five strong innings, allowing one earned hit on one hit and struck out seven to pick up the win. Trey Jackson struck out four in three shutout innings and Eric Garcia pitched the ninth to finish off the win.

Offensively, Stubbs had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and the home run.

The Titans will continue their homestand with a doubleheader against ASA College on Saturday afternoon. The first game begins at 2 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field.
