Baseball team falls short against Miami Dade, hosts Sharks Friday night

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team opened the Southern Conference season with a classic pitching duel.

Titans starter Jackson Woodward had another stellar outing, allowing one unearned run over eight innings in a 2-1 loss Wednesday afternoon.

Jeff Richardson doubled and scored on AJ Mathis' RBI single for the lone Titans run.

Tied 1-1 after eight innings, Miami Dade scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the No. 19-ranked Sharks the win.

The two teams will play Game 2 of the opening week's series on Friday at 6 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field. Chase Victor will get the start for the Titans and admission is free to baseball games at Bruce Bochy Field.
