Baseball team loses to Daytona State College

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost to Daytona State College Monday evening at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and then after Daytona State scored three in the top of the second inning, the Titan tacked on three in the bottom of the third.

Eastern Florida State College would add two more in the bottom of the fifth inning when Alejandro Rodriguez hit a double scoring both Abraham Arroyo and Connor Leary. But the 7-3 lead would not last long as Daytona State College scored six times in the top of the sixth inning highlighted by Lawson Schumacher's grand slam.

The Titans had some chances to tie the game but could not come up with the big hit, falling to 7-8 on the season.

Rodriguez finished with three hits while Lake Fisher, Tyler Isenberg and Abraham Arroyo each had two hits in the game.

Eastern Florida State College will open the Southern Conference schedule Wednesday at Miami-Dade College. The Sharks will be at Bruce Bochy Field on Friday at 6 p.m. and again Saturday at 1 p.m. for the first series of the season.
