Baseball team defeats Lake Sumter State College

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team scored four runs in three different innings en route to a 13-1 win over Lake Sumter State College Friday at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans improved to 7-6 on the season by scoring the most runs they have all season and they got things started in the second inning, scoring four times to take a 4-1 lead.

It was all starting pitcher Chase Victor needed as the redshirt freshman allowed one unearned run in five innings, striking out four for his second win of the season.

But the offense wasn't finished putting four more runs on the board in the fourth inning and then with the bases loaded in the eighth inning Lake Fisher hit a ball to the fence for a bases-clearing triple.

Fisher finished 3-for-5 with five RBI while Jonathan Hubbard was 5-for-5 and scored three times. Overall nine different players scored a run and the team had a season-high 16 hits.

While the offense was clicking, Ander Hollis, Toshawn Drew and Tyler Isenberg allowed just two hits and struck out a combined eight over the final four innings.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Polk State College for a 1 p.m. game Saturday. The Titans beat Polk State 4-3 in 10 innings earlier this season at Bruce Bochy Field. The baseball team will be back home Monday for a game with Daytona State College beginning at 4 p.m.
