Baseball team splits pair of extra-inning games in Tallahassee

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team split a pair of extra-inning games with Tallahassee Community College over the weekend.

In a game that started Friday and was finished on Saturday afternoon, the Titans picked up the 3-1 victory in 10 innings as Tyler Isenberg hit a two-run single in the top of the 10th and then Zack Kornich finished the game with a perfect bottom of the 10th for the save.

The bullpen shined for the Titans, putting up six shutout innings as Dominic Baratta picked up the win with three shutout innings.

In the second game which lasted close to five hours on Sunday, the Eagles picked up the 12-11 win in 10 innings.

Down 5-0 after five innings, the Titans got on the board with two runs in the sixth and then exploded for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the lead.

But Tallahassee scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 9-9. It would remain that way until Kyle Dentmon stepped to the plate in the top of the 10th. The redshirt-freshman from Melbourne sent the first pitch over the wall for his first home run of the season. The Titans would score one more run to take an 11-9 lead, but Tallahassee would score three times in the bottom of the 10th to earn the split.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Seminole State College on Tuesday afternoon and will host Seminole State College at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bruce Bochy Field.
