Baseball team falls to Palm Beach State College

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team fell to Palm Beach State College in a Southern Conference game on the road Wednesday.

The Titans were up 5-1 before Palm Beach State College rallied for five runs in the eighth inning to take the 6-5 win.

Freshman starter Carter Stewart allowed one earned run in seven innings, striking out eight in a no-decision.

Austin Bates went 2-for-4 with two RBI and has hit in 23 straight games, tying Jack Machonis for the most consecutive hits in the past five seasons. Alejandro Rodriguez also had two hits and Clayton Stanley drove in two in the game.

The loss snapped Eastern Florida State's five-game win streak.

The Titans, who are 26-17 overall and 10-9 in the conference, will host Palm Beach State College in the second game of the series at 4 p.m. Friday at Bruce Bochy Field. Admission is free.
