Baseball team falls in series opener with Palm Beach State

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost the opening game of a Southern Conference series with Palm Beach State College 10-6 at Bruce Bochy Field Wednesday evening.

Down 6-0 in the fifth inning the Titans rallied back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth and tied the game when Steven Lugo drove in Collier Rutledge in the sixth inning.

Raynieri de Los Santos Disla pitched three and 2/3 strong innings of relief, striking out five and walked the final batter he faced in the ninth inning. That runner ended up scoring along with three others for Palm Beach State College in the ninth.

Rutledge and Dilan Espinal each had two hits while Lugo drove in two runs. Starting pitcher Carter Stewart struck out nine in 4 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run.

The Titans will travel to Palm Beach State College on Friday for a 3 p.m. game and the final game of the three-game series is Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field.
