Baseball team has big night vs. Inspiration Academy

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team is one of the top teams in strikeouts in junior college and on Tuesday evening they struck out 17 of the 26 hitters they faced.

The Titans came into the contest second in the nation in strikeouts and the duo of Bailey Wendel and Alex Carpenter combined to give up two hits and walked three in a 12-0 win against Inspiration Academy.

Wendel struck out 11 in five innings and Carpenter came in and struck out six in two innings of the seven-inning game.

Offensively, Austin Bates had three hits and drove in three runs while teammate Chris Vervoordt drove in three runs. Steven Lugo had two hits and scored twice.

The Titans will travel to Keiser University to play the Keiser JV team Wednesday at 1 p.m. and return to Bruce Bochy Field on Friday, hosting ASA Miami at 6 p.m.
