Carter Stewart named NJCAA Region VIII Pitcher of the Week

Eastern Florida State College pitcher Carter Stewart was named the NJCAA Region VIII Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.

Stewart, a freshman from Eau Gallie High School, struck out 15 hitters in eight shutout innings, allowing just one hit in a 4-0 victory against Indian River State College.

For the season, Stewart is 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA and 39 strikeouts, which is tied for 10th in the nation.

Stewart is the second Titans pitcher this season to win the Pitcher of the Week award. Connor Brian won the award on Jan. 29. As a team the Titans are No. 2 in the nation in strikeouts with 233 this season.

The Titans will be at Bruce Bochy Field Tuesday night against Inspiration Academy at 6 p.m. and on Friday against ASA Miami at 6 p.m. and again Saturday against Rollins College JV at 1 p.m. Admission to games at Bruce Bochy Field is free.
