Baseball team falls short on the road

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost a tight game 5-4 with No. 10 State College of Florida Manatee Tuesday night.

The Titans, who fell to 5-6 on the season, took the lead in the fourth inning when they hit back-to-back-to-back home runs. Steven Lugo got it started with his second home run of the season, then JD Stubbs hit his first followed by Austin Bates' first home run. It gave the Titans a 3-0 lead but Manatee chipped away and took the lead in the eighth inning. Eastern Florida State College got a man on in the ninth but could not tie it up.

Lugo and Bates each finished with two hits in the game and starter Pablo Barquero Jackson struck out seven in six innings, allowing two earned runs.

The Titans are back at Bruce Bochy Field Wednesday evening, hosting Daytona State College at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
