Baseball team shuts out Hillsborough

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team shut out Hillsborough Community College 2-0 Friday at Bruce Bochy Field.

Three pitchers combined to toss the shutout as Starter Connor Brian picked up his first win of the season, tossing six scoreless innings. Daniel Acosta came in and had 1 2/3 scoreless innings and then Andres Rodriguez picked up the four-out save.

"That was a good win for us, pitching was outstanding for us," Eastern Florida State College baseball coach Jason Arnod said. "Some days we have to win 10-9 and other days we will need to win like this. That second run was huge for us."

The Titans broke through in the third inning when Alvaro Valdez doubled to the right-center field wall scoring Dilan Espinal.

Then in the eighth inning designated hitter Bryan Pena turned on a fastball, hitting it over the left field fence to make it 2-0. It was Pena's first home run of the season.

The Titans, who improved to 5-4 on the season, will travel to the College of Central Florida on Saturday. First pitch is 1 p.m.
