Baseball team scores late, beats Daytona State College

Eastern Florida State College first baseman JD Stubbs hit a two-run double in the eighth inning to give the baseball team a 6-5 win over Daytona State College on the road Wednesday evening.

The Titans improved to 4-4 on the season with the win and have now won two of the past three games.

Starter Pablo Barquero Jackson allowed one earned run in 5 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts and Michael Entenza tossed three scoreless to pick up his first win of the season.

Offensively, Alvaro Valdez went 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI while Dilan Espinal went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run and an RBI. Teammate Steven Lugo also had two hits and a double and Bryan Pena had an RBI triple.

Eastern Florida State College will be back at Bruce Bochy Field Friday against Hillsborough Community College who the Titans beat 8-5 earlier this season. First pitch is 4 p.m. and admission is free.
