Baseball team loses to SCF Manatee

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost a tight game with the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota Monday night at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning as Clayton Stanley hit an RBI double with two outs, but Manatee scored the winning run in the top of the ninth to post the 6-5 victory.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, first baseman J.D. Stubbs drove a 1-1 pitch for a double, scoring two runs. Stubbs would later score on Steven Lugo's RBI single.

Manatee would tie the game 4-4 in the fifth inning and took the lead in the seventh inning.

Carter Stewart got the start for the Titans and struck out five in six innings, allowing three earned runs.

The Titans will travel to Daytona State College on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. game before returning to Bruce Bochy Field on Friday for a 4 p.m. game against Hillsborough Community College. Admission to games at Titan Field House is free.
