Carter Stewart gets ball for home opener Tuesday night

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will host Seminole State College in the home opener Tuesday night at Bruce Bochy Field.

And Eau Gallie High and first-round Major League Baseball Draft Pick Carter Stewart will be on the mound for the Titans. Stewart was drafted by the Atlanta Braves but did not sign with the Braves after negotiations were complicated by a wrist injury.

On Tuesday night, he will take the mound for the first time as a member of the Titans who are 3-1 on the season.

Offensively, the Titans are averaging eight runs per game led by sophomore Alvaro Valdez who is hitting .500 with four runs scored and three RBI.

"We are so excited to get back home after three tough games on the road," Eastern Florida State College baseball coach Jason Arnold said. "The atmosphere should be great and we are excited to show our fans how hard we've been working."

Seminole State College comes into the game 1-0 after defeating Northwest Florida in their opener.

First pitch is at 6 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field and admission is free.
