Baseball team opens season with 9-1 win

Eastern Florida State College head baseball coach Jason Arnold picked up his first win on Friday afternoon as the Titans beat South Florida State College 9-1 in the season opener in Avon Park.

The Titans exploded for seven runs in the second inning and the duo of Raynieri de Los Santos Disla and Connor Brian combined to allow two hits in the win. De Los Santos Disla went five strong innings, striking out six to get the win and then Brian finished with 10 strikeouts over four innings to get the save.

Offensively, Alvaro Valdez went 2-for-3 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in a run while Austin Bates went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

The Titans will be back on the road Saturday, playing at Hillsborough Community College at 1 p.m.
