Titans baseball team rallies past Palm Beach State

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team scored six times in the final two innings to defeat Palm Beach State 6-3 Wednesday night at Bruce Bochy Field.

Down 3-0 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Norberto Navarro and Paul Castillo hit singles and Sebastian Rivera walked to load the bases for Sammy Duran.

"I knew he was going to throw me something I didn't want to hit, so I knew I had to catch it and sure enough it was a fastball away and I reached out and got it to score those first two runs," Duran said of his two-run single.

Duran's hit was followed by three walks in a row, the third scoring a third run. The final run of the inning came on a bases-loaded balk.

Navarro and Castillo would also score runs in the eighth inning as the Titans improved to 18-8 and 6-4 in the Southern Conference.

"Now we know we can beat these teams, we just have to go out and beat Dade on Friday," Duran said. "There is not one team in this conference that can't win, we have to fight every single pitch, every at-bat in every game and get the result."

Scarlen Perez picked up his first win in relief and Tim Luth three of the five hitters he faced to get the save.

The Titans will travel to Miami Dade this weekend for a big series with the Sharks before returning home Tuesday night to play ASA Miami at 6 p.m. on a game that will be shown live on WEFS-TV and online at efsctitans.com/webcast
